Artist Surfaces fabricate handmade Museum standard painting panels for professional artists. We are proud to launch our new Wooden Painting Panels.
Painting Panels have a poplar plywood surface with a poplar plywood wood subframe which is sustainably sourced and PEFC and FSC certified.
Poplar Plywood is approximately 40% lighter than birch plywood and provides the same smooth surface to work upon.
Poplar Plywood has an attractive uniform tight grain and its white ivory colour makes it ideal for painting.
Our Wooden Painting Panels are now *WARP FREE. We have engineered an aluminium extrusion that is included into the construction of each panel over 70x70cm. This aluminium extrusion makes to the wooden painting impervious to twisting or warping.
The new wooden painting panels require less cross bars and thus further reduces the weight.
Each Panel has 90 degree angel connectors inserted to ensure each corner is perfectly square. This increases the strength of the panel and produces flex free corners.
We have been in research and development since we established the company. Each year improving and problem solving issues with wooden painting panels. We have explored and investigated weight problems, cross bar design, panel strength and stability, materiality , machinability, surface quality, conservation and sustainably sourced wood.
We are now at the pinnacle of what a wooden painting panel can be. Respecting traditional conventions, whilst implementing new technologies in order to offer the best painting panels in the world, at an affordable price.
We have a hydraulic cold press that offers consistent pressure during the gluing process. We leave panels in the press for 24 hours to cure to ensure they have optimum adhesion.
Our Workshop facilities have a range of industrial saws that provide precision and accuracy.
Our wooden Painting Panels are particularly suited for small, medium and large scale sized paintings.
