Georgia Beaumont (b.1996) is a London based, self-taught artist whose work reimagines floral forms as a way to deepen her connection with the natural and spirit worlds.

 

Georgia considers her forms to be a self-generative language, rooted in nature yet with imposed semi-symmetry and sigil-like elements, which meet the more sprawling, intuitive gestures within her compositions. Oil paint is used in thin veils and glazes to create delicate petal structures that contrast with opaque strong lines of stems.

 

Georgia’s paintings have been exhibited in London, Barcelona, Milan, Florence, Mexico City, Los Angeles and Sydney, and are held in private collections internationally.

 

Short statement about your work:

 

I see great parallels between the sprawling, cyclical, unfurling natural world and our own inner landscapes of thought and emotion. We are tethered to nature, and through studying and painting it, I’m afforded a deeper look inward, which calls me to question my own strengths, weaknesses, desires and the meaning of my identity. I have come to learn that the colours and compositions are my translation of nature. A language that I am imagining from what I have seen. I endeavour to gather what I see, pour it through my sieve of internal feeling, transmute it, and then put it back out into the world.

 

I hope there is a sense of instinctual, kinetic and unselfconscious energy conveyed in the works, echoing nature’s output. I read each of them as a celebration of progress, fecundity and an eternal capacity for new life.
