Artist Surfaces is pleased to present the ÉTUDE Wooden Painting Panels, designed for experimentation, preparatory studies, and smaller works.
Taking their name from the French étude, meaning “study,” these panels are made for artists who wish to explore ideas and refine technique using the same high-quality poplar plywood found in our museum grade panels, but at a more affordable rate.
Each panel is crafted from PEFC and FSC-certified poplar plywood, chosen for its light weight, fine grain, and pale ivory tone. Approximately 40% lighter than birch plywood, poplar provides a smooth yet stable surface ideal for painting and mixed media applications.
Panels are sanded to a 120-grit finish, offering a subtly textured surface that readily accepts primers and grounds. They are left unfilled, allowing artists to customise the preparation according to their preferred working methods.
Every panel is cold-pressed for 24 hours under consistent hydraulic pressure to ensure optimal adhesion and flatness. Precision cutting in our workshop guarantees clean edges and accurate dimensions across all formats.
Available individually or in packs of 3, 5, or 10, the ÉTUDE range provides flexibility for artists working at different scales or stages of experimentation.
Free delivery is offered on packs of 5 and 10, adding further value for those purchasing in multiples.
Quantity discounts also apply to larger orders, making the ÉTUDE panels an economical and practical choice for studios, workshops, and educational environments.
Combining craftsmanship, sustainability, and accessibility, the ÉTUDE Wooden Painting Panels provide a dependable foundation for the artist’s ongoing study and creative exploration.
